Random 5 Friday

Welcome to Random 5 Friday --
where you share 5 random facts about you, your day,  your pets, your kids, whatever!

The Random 5 Friday Meme post will be available at 12:00 am every Friday.
I'm looking forward to seeing your submissions.

Random 5 Friday

Guidelines:

1. Link up a blog post with 5 random facts
about you, your day, your pets, your kids, whatever!
2. Posts not containing 5 random facts may be deleted
(sorry, but I don't ask much!)
3. Visit a few other participants if you are able.

: : :

Here are mine for this week:

1. I apologize if you had some difficulty in posting to this meme last week -- you were not alone. I believe it had something to do with Inlinkz and although I tried, I could not fix it. *sigh* If the same situation is present today, please feel free to post your link in the comment section.

2. I recently read an interesting article about online congruency. My thoughts on the subject: If you wouldn't want your mom to read it, don't post it. Works for me.

 3. This guy made an appearance on Monday. Where have you been?

4. My grandfather and father spent some time in 1930's Northern California.
Hence, my thoughts on going back to that period.

5. By the time this posts, it should be in the 30s or 40s here in Nebraska.
Crazy, since it was -10 F on Monday.

Now it's your turn.

Wonderful shots of your fine feathered friend, Yesterday it was warmer in Sochi than it was here-and I am in the /d/e/e/p/ /S/o/u/t/h. Temps this weekend back up to mid 60;s...and my cough that was improving enough so I thought I would be rid of it, has crept back in.

Gee, that's a huge pinecone! A great tag, we rarely see any that say "made in Canada". Thanks for hosting this meme Nancy!

Mr. Inlinkz has a frost damage, that occurred to me already in several memes on this week ... thank you for your effort with it.
So cute woodpecker, nice photos.
Have a great Valentines Day, hugs

Love your boots and Mr. Red-belly!
I hope it warms up for all of us. We had three inches of new snow today and 5-6 predicted for tomorrow night.

Awesome shots of your little friend! Beautiful, how does he stay so clean?
Our snow is all gone.
How are you going to get to the thirties, time machine or a good book? I'm not there yet...
Happy Valentine's Day!

Good idea to go back to the 30th, at least there was only Al Capone, alcohol smuggling, a little shooting, but you could smoke with an elegant cigarette holder and there were no terrorists and islamic extremists. In short a paradise, lol !

fantastic photos Nancy, I love your new header, very chic! When I turned 40 I choose the '30's as the theme, music, clothes etc. it was fun exploring this period-

Oh Nancy I love all your photos. I can only imagine the hard times in California in the 30s. Wow you are having a heat wave not sure what it is here but if it wars up that always means snow here, we need more snow:)

I agree about putting things online. I wish I could get my teenage granddaughter to grasp that concept! This next few days our weather is supposed to be in the balmy 70s. I expect to see folks in shorts and flip flops within a week or two!

Robyn Goddard said...

Nancy,
I like the new header and the little birdie. Looks like he enjoyed the photo op.

I abide by the same blog post rule. My Mom and Dad do read my blog. Mom and Husband would have no issues calling me out on something they didn't like.

Neat vintage California postcard find.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Jill of All Trades said...

Love, love, love the sweet birdies.

I agree with the blog post rule.

Love that postcard...memories...makes me long for the days of long past.

your comment if you wouldn't want your mom to read it, then don't post it is a pretty good rule. We had temps above freezing yesterday...not supposed to get there today though.

I love the woodpecker, your photos are always stunning. I had to skip Random 5 today because Samson had a bring project I had to help him with. Oh, that dog's in love.

Beautiful backyard visitor!

We had snow and ice over the weekend and yesterday it was sunny and 50 with no trace of the weekend snow....the weather can change so quickly!

Tina Fariss Barbour said...

I love the first shot of the bird especially--how his feathers look in the bit of sunlight. We certainly have had crazy weather this winter! Such big changes within just a few days.

Lori Skoog said...

I still cannot add my link. Have no idea what I am doing wrong, can't select a photo for the thumbnail. Please send your heatwave our way! Great photos.

oh i just love that little woodpecker and that vintage postcard! your dad and grandpa must have had some great stories to tell from that era to make you want to go back! all that snow we got and it's supposed to be upper 40's today...it's melting away!

Norma Ruttan said...

what wonderful close-ups of the bird! I love vintage postcards! In my mind, they are mini-pieces of art. It has been ages since I've seen MADE IN the USA! I won't get on my soap box about that right now. Your b&w shot is magnificent. Thank you for continuing to host this meme. BTW I had no problems with Mr. Linky.

the little woodpecker is a sweet little guy!

I definitely agree on that rule of online posting. I fear that many kids these days will have things they post online come back to haunt them later in life!

Ida said...

Oh I so agree with your thoughts on #2 - I've always said that if I can't say it straight to you face to face then I'm certainly not going to do it behind your back.
It's amazing the stuff people will post about themselves on-line.
Your woodpecker is really handsome.
Yep, weird, weird weather. Hope you enjoy the warmer temperatures. - Happy Valentine's Day.

Sharon Wagner said...

The woodpecker is so cute peeking around.

Barb said...

Hi Nancy, Enjoy your "balmy" weather while it lasts. It's to go above freezing here in Breckenridge, too - not necessarily a good thing for us.

Ann said...

As always I love your shots. That sure is one huge pinecone. I totally agree with that article about posting online

Great shot of the woodpecker! I've not seen hardly any this winter. I don't know where all my colorful winter birds are hiding. I've not had problems linking up, but I've had problems visiting blogs. It keeps telling me it can't find the server.

aspiritofsimplicity said...

I can't remember if I commented when I linked up or not. If I did I have not one idea what I said and am not going through all the above comments to find out. I will just chalk it up to a kooky week....I like your woodpecker shot...I like your boots...can you get over this cold???? it seems like it will never be warm again!

Jim said...

Love these photos Nancy! Well, where HAVE you been? lol

Nita Davis said...

I am so jealous of your bird shots. I rarely seem to get good shots of birds. Maybe I am just not patient enough...lol
That old postcard is fantastic! I hope it has warmed up for you.
